Dreaming
Tom has invited his friends over for dinner at my home. There are to be two couples, making a total of six of us for dinner, and they are arriving at 8 o’clock. Tom goes to the shop to buy some food and brings back a bag of shopping, which he gives to me, but then he goes out again to get some more. I look in the bag and take out loads of meat, including chicken, beef, and other meat that I don’t recognise. I lay it all on the kitchen worktop and notice that it is 7 o’clock. I have an hour to do everything and the house is a mess, I’m undressed, dinner isn’t started, and Tom isn’t home. I notice some flakes of chocolate on the kitchen floor, and I start to sweep them up, but the more I sweep, the more they appear. Eventually, my whole kitchen floor is covered in food, mainly noodles. I am trying to clean them away, but they are never-ending, although the edges are becoming clear. The time is 7.30 pm; I feel stressed and worried.
I am watching the dinner party happen. Violet Day and Gabriella Thompson arrive, both in beautiful, satin, turquoise long gowns/dresses. The dinner party is now elsewhere and not in my house, and everything is perfect. The table is laid and polished, and everything is tidy.
I am driving on the motorway towards Hazleton; the traffic in both lanes is braking. The left lane is turning off at a new exit to the fruit farm. I can see lots of red brake lights.
