Discovering

Hello. I’m Winnie.

For over twenty years, I have kept diaries.

Over time, writing was how I made sense of what was happening in my life. At the same time, I began recording my dreams each morning – when I remembered them. I didn’t know why I was doing this; I just knew I had to.

Over the last twelve years, a thought has kept coming back to me every few years:

Publish your diaries for others to read.

The time never felt right for various reasons, but at the beginning of 2026, it was no longer a thought. Instead, it felt like I was being called to share them.

That is how The Depth of Being was born.

Using my diary entries, my writing captures my life as it continually unfolds and becomes.

Everything here is still becoming.

The diaries and dreams remain exactly as they were written at the time. I have preserved them in their entirety to capture the essence of life. They belong to the person I was then, yet they continue to move with me as I age, grow and change.

The archive begins in 2006 and will continue to grow over time, revealing a life shaped by relationships, motherhood, abuse, grief, illness, spirituality, healing, family, belonging, love, loss and the ordinary moments that often create a life as rich as the extraordinary ones.

Much of the way I now think has been guided by person-centred philosophy. The belief that each person is the expert on their own life resonated deeply with me, not because it gave me answers, but because it chimed with my own growing philosophy for life. That spirit runs through everything here. I am less interested in certainty than I am in curiosity, and less drawn to conclusions than in conversations with my younger self. Rather than forcing meaning, I have learned to follow what gradually reveals itself.

My writing – like my inner world – has always felt alive; moving, breathing, revealing itself a little at a time. That is why so many of the words I use are verbs: living, dreaming, nourishing, becoming. They remind me that life is not something to observe from a distance, but something to continuously participate in.

My diaries are shared anonymously. Names, identifying details and, where necessary, some circumstances have been changed to protect the privacy of everyone involved. While small details may be altered, the emotional truth of the experiences remains unchanged.

This work is offered freely because I believe stories, questions and honest exploration should be accessible to anyone who finds themselves here. Some of the more personal entries are shared with members who choose to support the further becoming of my writing. Other entries offer the reader the opportunity to nourish my writing if something resonates with them.

Most of all, this is an invitation. Not simply to read my life, but to converse with it. In doing so, maybe you’ll find yourself entering into conversation with your own.

Thank you for being here.
