Kneel

Simple black continuous line drawing of a dog leaping very high into the air, with its front paws raised, hind legs stretched back, tail lifted and mouth open happily. Curved lines beneath the dog emphasise the height of the jump

Dreaming

I am in Mary’s house, but it isn’t actually her house; it belongs to Sonia and Eric. Everyone there has been searching for a song called The Simple Life. I go into the living room, and a dog jumps up at me in a friendly way. He jumps really high, level with the head of someone sitting in a chair. I am scared of the dog. I notice two or three puddles of dog urine on the carpet at the other end of the room and suggest that maybe he needs a poo. I tell them that I am not taking them.

A young girl takes his collar and takes him outside. I go over to the other side of the room and start to search through drawers. Someone tells me they’ve already been searched. I go to another set of drawers and search through; they are full of paperwork. I ask when ‘he’d’ last had the song, and they tell me he’d had it that afternoon when he came in from work. I think to myself that it’s probably in the bedroom and not the living room. As I search through the drawers, I kneel in the dog’s urine; it is on my jeans. The dog comes back; it is calm and just watches me.
