Predicament

Dreaming

I am driving along a seafront. The sea on my left is really high and has come in all over the road. I drive through the water; it splashes right over an old lady and a man on my right. I see her wiping water away from her mouth. I realise I was driving through too fast, and I slow down. Although I feel a bit bad for soaking them, I’m also laughing at what I’ve done.

I have £30 to my name, and it is the day of two of the kids’ birthday parties. They are both going bowling with friends. I don’t know how I’m going to pay for it, and I’m due to pick up all their friends at 2.30 pm; it’s almost that time.

I am upstairs talking to Zac and Connor; I tell them about my predicament. I tell them I’m going to have to ring Dad and ask him if he can let me have my money early, but then I realise that Dad doesn’t owe me any money.

I go into the bathroom (it looks like the one at Devon Street) and go to the toilet. I realise I have no way of getting any money; that £30 is all I have. I also realise that I have to pick up all of Rosie’s friends and all of Annie’s friends, and I wonder how I will do it all on my own. I wonder why I’ve made this arrangement knowing I can’t actually do it on my own. Jess has arrived; it is 2.35 pm, and I should be picking people up. I don’t know what I’m going to do, as I’ll feel bad cancelling on people now.

I somehow know that bowling is cheaper than I thought. It is £14.95 for Rosie’s party and £7.95 for Annie’s party. I did have enough. It seems to be after the event, but I don’t recall actually going bowling.
