Fuse

Dreaming

I am in a house I don’t recognise, and yet it feels familiar. There is a wedding taking place, and I am to be a guest. Richard and someone else I recognise are at the bar; I pat Richard on the back. A woman has some fireworks that she is going to set off after the wedding to celebrate. She lights a very large rocket and puts it in a container in the room we are in. I tell her you can’t leave a lit firework there as it will go off, harm people and damage the house. I take the firework and begin to walk outside with it. The fuse is getting shorter, and flames are just starting to appear. I have to get it outside before it goes off in my hand; throughout this, I don’t feel frightened though.

I get outside into the garden, which now looks like the garden at Church Lane. I push it into the ground and flee around the side of the house just as the firework explodes. It doesn’t explode quite as spectacularly as I thought it would, considering its size.

I walk back around to the rear of the house and see where the firework went off; it has disturbed all the wildlife. A black labrador puppy appears out of the earth; I pick it up, and it nestles into my shoulder. I desperately want to keep the puppy. I see a cat, which I kind of want to keep, but am not sure about, and a squirrel which I definitely don’t want. Other creatures are scurrying away for shelter. I go back into the house and stroke the puppy.
