One of my favourite days of the year is Christmas Eve.

For the past few years, my entire family has got together for a Christmas dinner at a restaurant. This year was a little quieter and less hectic than usual as not everyone could make it, but it was still lovely.

The only downside to the day was that Tom spent most of the time in a bad mood – apart from when the camera was on him – making disapproving comments, snapping at me and afterwards, criticising almost every member of my family.

This evening was nice though. I prepared all the food and made jellies for the children. I redecorated the tree – Christmas trees and toddlers don’t mix well – and I watched Christmas TV while wrapping the children’s presents. As I wrapped each one, I became more excited about seeing their faces when they open them. I can’t wait until the morning.

Hopefully, by then, Tom will be in a better mood.
