Dreaming
I’m standing in the kitchen with Tom, asking him why he has to go back home again so soon. I look up to the garage and see a woman in there; she has long hair, is pretty, and I sense she is famous. I tell Tom, but while I can see her, he can’t. As we watch, it starts to snow suddenly but stops just as quickly as it started.
I go into the utility room and see a man standing by the back door. He has longish hair and a beard; he wants me to open the door, but I am scared. I pretend I can’t find the key while calling out to Tom to help me. Tom stands behind me so the man knows I’m not alone. I find the key and open the back door. Tom has left the room. The man tells me he found my watch in his garage and points to our garage. I look at the watch, it is a ‘grandfather watch’. I start to tell the man that is our garage not his but he won’t listen. He gives me the watch and takes Annie in return. I let her go with no argument. Once he has gone to the garage I realise what I have done and rush to the garage. The doors are flimsy and weak and I manage to get in. I demand he gives me Annie back. I snatch Annie from him and scream and shout at him. I am scared, but Annie is petrified. I realise this must be what it’s like for her all the time.
I go back into the house, the man follows me in. I tell him to get out; he goes through the living room and out of the front window, but as I watch out of the window he is walking back up my path with a Boy Scout uniform on, with some Boy Scouts, and I realise he is going to talk me around again. I feel foolish knowing that I so easily let go of my power every time.
