Dreaming
I am at the house of a woman; I may be moving to her house. She appears to be well dressed, well spoken, not posh but has an air about her. Her house has the feeling of a lot of white and gold, although I don’t actually ‘see’ the colours. While talking to her, I realise that I am parked in the car park and haven’t bought a ticket. I go outside, and a man tells me not to bother as it’s almost the time when a ticket is unnecessary. I see a traffic warden and realise that he is aware of me, but I ignore him and don’t buy the ticket.
I walk over to Tom’s car and climb in the front seat, to find myself practically sitting on Annie. I feel really angry that he has put Annie in the front. Amelia and Rosie are on the back seat, and he expects me to get in the back too. I tell him to stop the car so I can get in the back. He is angry but stops. I get out to walk around, but as I do, he drives away without me. I feel certain he’ll come back at some point and start walking in the direction of where I want to be. (The place I am in is not at all familiar to me.) I walk, but every step is a massive effort; I physically hurt from the effort; my legs are heavy, and I’m exhausted. I feel as if I am walking uphill although I’m not. I pass a row of shops on the right and look down the road to see if Tom is coming back yet; he’s not. I start to wonder if he does intend to come back or if he’s going to leave me to walk. I realise he’s not coming back, but strangely I’m unfazed by it.
I get to the top of a road; it has felt like an uphill struggle, but now I’m at the top. I look to my right and see a beautiful field. It is summer; warm and hazy, and I feel good. There is a wedding happening in the field. I see a bride in a beautiful old-fashioned lacy dress; the scene has a real sense of love and good feeling to it. When I look more closely, I see it is two men getting married. These men are in front of me now. They are both black men. The first one passes me; we look into each other’s eyes, and I feel a deep connection to him. I feel it should be me marrying him, but I know it won’t happen as he’s gay. The second man walks past, and I barely acknowledge him; I feel nothing towards him at all. I start to walk down the hill; the joyous feelings overwhelm me, and I run and jump all the way down, as does everyone else. The road is now busy with people; everyone is happy.
Once at the bottom, I see water on the right; something is happening, and it is creating a bit of a flood. Water is surging in towards us, and we’re all trying to dodge the waves so we don’t get wet. The feeling here is fun and happiness; I’m unafraid of the flood, although I don’t want to get wet. The waves happen a few times, then the water bursts completely and flows down the entire road, but slightly to the right of me so I don’t ever get wet at all. I pause to speak to someone about it. A woman tells me that it is someone’s fault, that it’s an unnatural thing to have happened, that it is because someone did something wrong at the source of the water. I look down to where the water was flowing a minute ago, and it has all dried up, and it is back to normal.
