Family

Dreaming

I am at a family get-together; it is summer, and the feeling is very relaxed. I am inside taking photographs. I decide to take some of the people outside as the light would produce a better photo. Outside are Grandad, Justin, Dean, and some others. I sit on a picnic bench next to Justin. Ants are crawling along the bench, and Albie and Leo are scared by them. I show them how to flick them away. I only want to flick them, but some get killed in the process.

I am standing and facing towards the building. On the left, I see a red water slide, and I want to
have a go. I think about what Tom would say, but I don’t worry; I want to have fun like I used to. I
need to find my bikini/swimsuit which is also red. I go into the building, which has a long corridor and resembles a hotel in some ways. I meet up with Izzy and Susie. Susie is with two men and is trying to get over Billy. Izzy needs to get something and comes with me.

We come to the lifts; there are two. The one on the left opens, and I get in, but Izzy isn’t ready. I get out to look for her and see her with two big heavy suitcases full of dirty laundry. We stand and wait for the lift on the left again, but each time the door opens, it is full of people, and there’s no room for us. We go to the one on the right, which hadn’t appeared to have been working before. The door opens, and I start to go in when the door shuts on me. I am pushing the plastic doors with all my might to keep them open and give Izzy a chance to get in. Eventually, she makes it in, suitcase and all.

We are inside the lift, but it is a chemist’s. The chemist, a black man quite like Dermot O’Leary, comes over and points out a large swelling on my left leg, just above the knee. He asks to take a look at it and says I must have done it trying to keep the doors open. At first, it looks as if my kneecap has moved out of place, but it is just a swelling. The chemist wants to treat it. He gets a pack of ice out and sits me on a chair. I am wearing my denim skirt. Suddenly the chemist throws icy water up my legs, from my feet upwards. I yell out with the cold but know I must sit there and wait for it to do its job.
