Dreaming
I am in a public area when my phone rings really loudly in a tone that I don’t recognise; I quiet the phone. I am sitting on a pew in an outside church. I am on the left side with Belinda and Janet on my right. There are two rows of people in front of us and to our right, loads of people all facing us. A blonde-haired lady gets up and leaves to the left. She comes back a little while later in a dress of bright blue on the top and black on the bottom. She suddenly drops to her knees and starts sobbing. Belinda tells me it is her Dad’s funeral; he died suddenly in a car crash or plane crash. The woman is devastated. I can feel her pain and start to cry with her. Janet is crying a little; I tell her not to look at the woman or she’ll be in bits too.
It is time for a break; I look over to my right – it is predominantly men. I realise they are watching me and I remember I still have my phone turned on. I take it out of my bag and turn it off. I step out of the pew and stand in the aisle. The bereaved woman is standing at the front with three other women; they are performing a celebratory dance. The blonde woman seems to have the biggest part in the proceedings. She is showing us all the dance, and we are to copy. She has on really strange shoes; both have a red pattern, but one is ankle-length and the other knee-length – this is so the dance can be done properly. The woman does funny movements with her leg, then her arms, then her head. I join in, as do Belinda and Janet; we find it really funny and laugh hard. It really does feel like a celebration.
I am in a cemetery with Annie. I tell her not to go far, but then she runs off. I’m worried she’s going to run too far and I won’t be able to catch her, until I see two creatures – possibly turkeys – with her. They have stopped her and are waiting for me to catch up. I thank them, as does Annie, and we head out of the cemetery.
