It’s said that if you don’t know what your life’s purpose is, look back at what you wanted to be when you were a child.
I had a couple of things I thought I wanted to do, but I had no deep feelings behind them. The only thing I ever really wanted with a passion was to have a good husband and children. I wanted family. I used to spend hours daydreaming about my future family – children, nieces and nephews, spending time with my sisters, being in each other’s lives. The times in my life when I have been happiest were when I was surrounded by family.
I am lost without the children with me.
I’ve been searching for so long for my life purpose with no idea of what it is or even in what direction it might be, but after reading something online today about a woman who realised her husband’s life purpose is to earn lots of money, and hers is to write, even though it doesn’t make her lots of money, I’ve realised that maybe I’ve been looking in the wrong direction.
All this time, I’ve been thinking that my purpose has to be something big, something that rocks the world, that makes a huge difference to a lot of people, but actually, I don’t think that is my thing. I think my purpose in this life is to have children, to surround myself with family and to just create and uphold family. Family is my life purpose.
If I allow myself the full dream, it would be a life where I don’t have to go out to work, which would take me away from my family. It would be a life where I can stay home and be a wife and mum, an auntie, a sister, a daughter. A life where I can write, take photographs, and base everything I do around my family.
I may not have a husband as I envisaged, but I do have my four wonderful, amazing, beautiful children. I have nieces, nephews, sisters, a mum, a dad, and a stepdad. Maybe my purpose right now is to enjoy them all.
