Licence

Dreaming

I am at Ruth’s house dropping Rosie off for a party. It is 11 am. I go into the house; Ruth is there fighting back tears. I hear her tell Abi that her dad died yesterday. I am about to leave to go shopping. I ask Ruth if she needs anything. She says she needs some pink icing to finish off Beth’s cake. I look down to where Ruth has cake letters in her hand; she is placing them in order to read Happy Birthday Beth. I think it’s a really good idea. The cakes have a chocolate covering with bright pink icing on top of that.

I head off to the corner shop and return with her icing. Upon my return, I ask Ruth what time the party ends; she says 6 pm. It is an all-day disco. I think this is too much for her with her dad dying, but I say nothing as she hasn’t actually told me that her dad died; I just overheard it. Ruth is sitting at the table trying not to cry. I decide I will go to Jellicombe and do some shopping.

I head towards my car, but I walk past it to the car right at the end of the road. Once I’m near it, I see it is a Mini and not my car. I turn back around and see my car; the door is open, and some of my belongings are on the ground. I realise that the driver’s door hasn’t been locking properly and someone has gotten in. I search the car and see that my bag and purse have been stolen. My licence is on the back shelf, and I don’t understand why they didn’t take that as well. I need to ring the bank and head back to Ruth’s. I’m worried the thieves will spend all my money before I have a chance to inform the bank of the problem.

I am in some kind of metal thing. Everything appears to be metal. I have to go down a slide. I choose the one on the left, but it is too narrow. I can’t fit in. I move to the one on the right, and if I tilt on my hip/side, I can get down. I slide down to the bottom and face a metal barrier of some kind. I ease myself through, but at times I worry that I will get stuck. I manage to get through and come out the other side.
