Dreaming
I am at 18 Devon Street. Erin knocks on the door; she has a friend with her. They both have babies that are seven months old. They ask if I will look after the babies. I agree, and they hand me the babies’ bags and put a baby in each arm. Erin kisses her baby boy. He is very beautiful, with dark skin, big brown eyes, and brown hair. Her friend, who has blond hair, has a girl who is beautiful one minute and then becomes older and rather plain. They tell me they are going abroad to get some drugs or to deal drugs. I feel sad; Erin never used to be like this; she has changed. They leave, and I go into the living room to tell Greg that I am looking after their babies, but they are never coming back. I know the babies’ names but cannot remember them properly. Jasper may be one of them? I put the babies in a very big pram and rush to school to collect Josh and Amelia. I am very late. I completely fall in love with the boy, and in my eyes, he is my child.
I am in an Italian restaurant in London. Erin comes in with several Italian men; she wants her baby back. I know I have to give him back, but I don’t want to, as I love him so much. I give him to her, and she goes off and plays with him. I am at the till paying for my stuff; three of the Italian men are in the queue being silly. One of them touches my bum, and I tell him to get off. Mary, Bev, Jill, and Maggie come into the restaurant and ask to see the baby. I take them to where Erin is, but she isn’t there, and neither are the Italian men. Maggie and I start running through the streets; it is late at night – almost midnight – calling for Erin, searching for her. I find a KFC and go in to find Josh, Zac, Connor and another child sitting in there eating. I ask them how much their meal cost. Josh tells me £60. I ask him if he meant £16, but he says no; it cost £60 because they ate at a different restaurant first. They are all trying to finish their food, but I can tell they are full and don’t really want it. I tell them to go straight home when they are finished. We continue to search for Erin; eventually, we come to a busy road – a crossroads – with many traffic lights. I see Josh again; he is going in the wrong direction. I tell him to go home as it is 11.50 pm.
I am in my bedroom at Church Lane. The room is pink and cosy, and feels safe. The baby is back there with me. I feel overwhelmed with immense love for him once more.
